Vogue 8825:)

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,“Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." “But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven.

Matthew 16:13-20

Hello all:)  This new dress from Vogue is one of the few projects I started while still pregnant. I was wanting to make this pattern for a while now and finally got around to it. I'll probably wear it more in the fall as the long sleeves make it a bit too warm for the summer. One member on Patternreview.com cut her sleeves around elbow length and I quite liked how it looked. I do like the sleeves as-is though, so I'll likely just leave them be.

Overall I like this pattern. The sleeves don't seem quite as dramatic as on the envelope artwork though. My pattern was missing a neck piece. I may have thrown it out by mistake back when I cut out the pieces. I just "winged it" but I'm tempted to buy another pattern if the mood strikes me to make up another! Other reviewers said the wrist cuffs were loose, so I cut the smallest size. I also cut off a little over 3" of the hem since I'm only 5' 2".

Next up is a few more tops. I love my recent New Look top so much that I'd like to make some more. Dresses are fun but tops are certainly more practical at the moment!:)

Til next time!:)

New Look Top 6216:)

"Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be dissolved in the fire, and the earth and its works will not be found."
2 Peter 3:8-10

Hello sewing and non-sewing friends;) I just made this New Look top from a printed burnout knit fabric that I've had in my stash for quite some time. I have a RTW yellow top (also burnout knit) that I love to pair with skinny jeans which inspired me to make one similar with this fabric.

This pattern I've had for awhile as well. Pretty easy to make. I really like the sleeve bands. The neckband piece probably could have been a bit shorter, as it doesn't lie as flat as I would like. I'll adjust it next time, as I can see myself making a few of these tops:) I used steam a seam for the hem. I make add a hem band next time and make the top a tad more fitted. I used the smallest size (8) since other reviewers on patternreview.com mentioned this pattern is sized pretty big.

My husband and I went out to dinner last night and I wore a jean jacket over it.

This pattern is one of those instant gratification types. It took me a few days just because I had little time in the evening after my 2 year and 2 month old got to sleep. It's so nice to get in at least in a few minutes of sewing therapy here and there when I can :)

 'Til next time! :)

Two more Ina Maxi Skirts! :)

Jesus said to him (Thomas), “I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

John 14:6

Two more Ina Maxi Skirts!:) I think I mentioned in my last blog post that I actually started all three at once while I was still pregnant with baby #2. I started a few other projects as well and hopefully will get to finish them soon and blog about them.

Both fabrics are from Fabricville and were in my stash since a couple years at least. Both are knits of course. The black & white is a heavier weight that was intended to be a muslin.

The multi-colour skirt fabric is lighter weight and has a nice drape. I'm looking forward to wearing all three skirts this summer :) I've worn my floral version (my favourite) a bunch of times already and have gotten lots of nice compliments! Love this pattern!

   Thanks for reading! :)
